RSA reacts to complaints about recent advert

The intent of the commercial is to advise anyone buying a second hand car.
The Road Safety Authority have reacted to a number of complaints about a recent advert which provides advice to people buying hand cars.
In the advert listeners are advised that "A Valid NCT only confirms that a car met a minimum standard on the day of the test, it can't guarantee safety in the days, weeks and months that followed."
The intent of the commercial is to advise anyone buying a second hand car to get it checked out by an independent mechanic even if it carries a valid NCT cert.
However it has led to complaints about the NCT system with many questioning the purpose of the testing if it doesn't verify a vehicle's roadworthiness after the time of the NCT test.
Speaking to Cork's RedFM Brian Farrell of the Road Safety Authority says the point of the NCT is to check that the vehicle is maintained to a minimum standard - not to provide a warranty on the car:
