Ryanair apologises for remarks about Cork Airport charges

The low fares airline said it was too expensive to operate out of Cork

Ryanair has apologised and moved to withdraw what it describes as "inaccurate comments" about Cork Airport charges made by the airline's own spokesman.

In a newspaper article yesterday the airline was quoted as urging Cork Airport customers to make its ‘excessive’ charges a general election issue.

Ryanair's Robin Kiely, said it was too expensive to operate out of Cork and the excessive charges are preventing it's expansion in Cork.

In a statement last night Ryanair said it wanted to "correct the inaccurate comments" concerning Cork Airport and stated that the airline does not have a problem with current fee levels at Cork before adding that charges at Cork Airport are a matter of continuing negotiation between Ryanair and the DAA

Ryanair says it is is currently engaged in talks about new routes and growth incentives at Cork and the statement concludes that the airline doesn't believe it's appropriate that airport charges should become a political or an election issue.
