The businessman has announced his intention to seek a nomination to make a second bid at the presidency.
He was runner up in the 2011 Presidential election - losing out to Michael D Higgins.
A special meeting of Cork City Council will take place next Monday evening where potential Presidential candidates can make presentations to councillors in a bid to seek the nomination of Cork City Council.
Sean Gallagher says his focus is on winning the backing of the county councils.
