Search for a highly invasive rodent Leeside is to resume

Anyone who spots the animal is asked to make note of the location and take a photo if possible.

Coypus a rat like rodent spread across Cork last year after a number were accidentaly released into the wild following an agricitural show.

City officials issued an appeal last year for members of the public to report any sightings of the rodent as their burrowing can threaten river banks.

They're described as being a metre in length, with distinctive large orange-yellow teeth and have been linked to the spread of a number of diseases.

According to a report in the Evening Echo sightings have died down, however it's feared a number of Coypus remain.
