Shoplifting Gangs Target Midleton And Mallow
Businesses in Midleton and Mallow should be on alert for shoplifting gangs in the run up to Christmas. That's according to gardai who say that gangs are shifting their attention from the City centre to county towns connected by the railway. It comes as it has emerged that between August and October this year there were 599 thefts from shops, up from 546 during the same period last year. While the City accounts for a lot of these there has been an increase in thefts in Mallow and Midleton. Gardaí have confirmed they will be increasing anti-shoplifting patrols in these towns as a result and will be liaising with business owners in an effort to ensure they step up their own in-house security.
