An elderly Cork woman has called on the HSE to provide more home help hours for her husband who she says is often left sitting in his own unchanged continence pads for hours.
The 76-year-old is caring for her husband who has dementia however she says because they have only been allocated two home help visits per day, her 78-year-old husband sometimes cannot be changed.
The man also needs a hoist to be moved as he is unable to walk and as a result can be left sitting in the one place, all day, between the two visits.
Recent figures show there was a shortage of more than 54,000 home help hours Leeside from January to May of this year.
