Sinn Fein: Naming Of Victorian Quarter An Insult To Memory Of Former Lord Mayor Tomás MacCurtain

Some Councillors are calling for City Hall to exclude the Victorian Quarter branding from documents ahead of the 100th anniversary of MacCurtain's death

The former Lord Mayor was shot dead by the RIC during the War of Independence.

The Echo reports that the calls have been dismissed by other Councillors who say the branding has led to an increase in trade and tourist numbers.
