Sinn Féin says planning for school returns should have started sooner
Sinn Fein says the Department of Education 'took its eye off the ball' when it comes to planning for reopening schools.
The Education Minister told RTE's Prime Time last night that he wouldn't accept a 'half-return' of schools in September.
However it contradicts Joe McHugh's comments earlier in the day, where he said it would be hard to see all students back in schools for the new term.
Sinn Fein's education spokesperson Donnchadh O Laoghaire says the planning for school returns needed to start before now.
"We're now at the 29th of May, and the fact that we're only having preliminary meetings, that the department is only truly beginning to look at this.
"There are, as far as I'm aware, no papers on the table, no specific proposal from the department as of yet.
"I don't think that's good enough."
