Sit-in staff at Healy's Blue Bins due to meet with owners
Cork workers who lost their jobs at Healy's Blue Bin have slammed the company for not communicating with staff or customers. Up to 25 workers have been holding a sit-in at the company's premises on the Skehard Road in Blackrock after they lost their jobs on Wednesday. The staff were paid up to date for their work but say they didn't receive their holiday pay and other entitlements. The workers are vowing to continue their protest until they get all the money owed to them. Talks between the owners of Healy Waste Management in Cork, who announced the shock closure of Healy’s Blue Bins on Wednesday, and the potential buyer, were ongoing last night. Workers are now due to meet with managing director Nora Healy at 8am this morning. Audio: Speaking to RedFM News Bertie Hayes, who's worked at Healy's for over 35 years, says customers don't know if their bins will be collected. Click the PLAY button above to listen.
