Society of Chartered Surveyors call on Government to enter into a major house building programme
It could be 10 years before the balance between housing supply and demand is achieved, according to the Society of Chartered Surveyors.
It's forecasting house prices will rise this year on average by 4%.
A majority of Chartered Agents say lack of supply is a major issue.
Vice President of the SCSI, TJ Cronin says that has to be addressed:
"We're calling on Government to enter into a major house building programme," he said. "Unfortunately COVID is a huge huge huge concern at the moment and rightly so but pre-existing concerns still exist and the supply of housing isn't meeting demand and hasn't met demand for a number of years and will continue to do so."
