Spaniard charged with drugs bust at Cork Airport
A 40-year old Spanish man, who allegedly swallowed a kilo of cannabis in pellet form has been charged with a drugs offence. Unai Arrese Aguirregabica, with an address near Malaga, was arrested at Cork Airport on Saturday after he tried to get past customs officers after ingesting €10,000 worth of the drug. The Spaniard was detained following a search with a sniffer dog after he arrived on a flight from Malaga. He was brought before Mallow District Court yesterday where he was charged with possession of a kilo of cannabis resin for sale or supply. The 40-year old was remanded in custody to appear again at Cork District Court on the 12th of August. The accused was also granted free legal aid by Judge Tim Lucey.
