Spiralling Costs Of Dunkettle Interchange Project To Be Questioned By Oireachtas Transport Committee

Transport Infrastructure Ireland will appear before an Oireachtas Transport Committee to answer questions about spiralling costs at the Dunkettle Interchange after previously rejecting an invite.
The move follows concerns that the project could be delayed by up to 18 months.
Upgrade works at one of Cork's worst traffic blackspots were originally due to cost €100 million, however a new report says the project will cost €15 million more, with concerns it could go as high as 170 million.
Business groups and developers say any delays to the development could impact economic growth in the city and the wider region.
The interchange has been operating above capacity in recent years with up to 100,000 vehicles using it daily.
