Staff a Cork waste firm stage sit-in
Up to 25 staff at a Cork waste firm are staging a sit in after being told they were losing their jobs. Workers at Healy's Blue Bin based on Skehard Road in Blackrock were called into a meeting yesterday and told to go home and return at 5pm to collect their wages. When they arrived back in the evening they were handed two envelopes containing their weeks earnings, their P45 and a short reference. The owners left the premises while the workers were still in there and at that point they decided to stage a sit in. The staff who have up to 40 years service say they want all the monies they are owed. They also hope to meet the liquidator who is due to arrive today at half past three.
