State Has Been Cleared To Increase Investment Into Cork Events Centre

It's been reported that the State has been cleared to increase to €30m its investment in the long awaited Events Centre for Cork

In an interview with the Irish Examiner Tanaiste Simon Coveney confirmed that the extra €10 million sought earlier this year can be accommodated without the original tender being at risk of a possible legal challenge

The Minister also confirmed that any cost over-runs from now on in relation to the €74m venue will be borne by developers BAM and their partners Live Nation within the existing funding arrangements..

The funding uncertainty was one of the stumbling blocks for the project  however a decision on a fresh planning application lodged in August is still awaited.
