Status Orange Wind Alert In Operation For Cork From 10pm Tonight
The ESB is warning that the Status Orange wind alert in operation for Cork from 10 o'clock tonight until tomorrow will hamper restoration efforts.
The operation to get all customers back on the power grid is continuing however the ESB says if weather conditions deteriorate even further then crews will be stood down until it is safe to resume repairs again.
Customers who are currently off the power grid have expressed their fears that they may be facing a weekend without power as Storm Brian hits Cork...
The worst affected areas for power outages this afternoon in Cork continue to be in Bandon, Dunmanway and Fermoy.
Crews from EDF in France are in transit on the Irish Ferries Oscar Wilde service, and delayed due to bad weather in the English Channel. The crews are now scheduled to arrive in Rosslare at 6 pm this evening
In the meantime, the ESB say they are continuing to work through the outages along with the support of extra crews and the army and are hopeful that they will not have to re-build what they have already repaired
Denis Cambridge of the ESB told RedFM News that the army are continuing to assist them in clearing timber so they can get everyone back on the power grid
