Storm Brian has hit Cork

The storm has brought heavy rain and strong winds right across the city and county

Gardai are warning motorists taking to the road today to take extra care.

Motorists are being advised to take extra caution on the roads this morning due to possible surface water and localised flooding. 

The Ballyduff Road in Fermoy remains flooded this morning and diversions are in place.

Gardai in Middleton are urging motoritsts to avoid the Bailick Rd in as conditions there are treacherous.

There are also reports of a tree down on the Glanmire road opposite the Garda Station. 

High tides passed off with only minimal surface flooding across Cork last night despite fears for four county towns due to tidal surges.

An orange wind warning remains in operation across Cork until 10 o'clock tonight and speaking to RedFM News Director of Service for Roads with Cork County Council Tom Stritch says the public need to be vigilant.
