Strategy published to help manage Obesity
A new Obesity strategy is being published this afternoon – to help the overweight and obese to lose weight.
With two in three Irish adults and one in four Irish children overweight or obese, health professionals say we’re on course to become the fattest country in Europe by 2030 – unless urgent measures are introduced.
The Royal College of Physicians in Ireland has welcomed the plan, but says it is vital that it is fully resourced.
For the first time, a clinical lead is being appointed to develop ways of preventing and managing obesity.
Consultant Endocrinologist Donal O’Shea, says this is most welcome;
