Strike threat looms ahead of nurses' ballot

A ballot of the country's nurses gets underway this morning amid a growing overcrowding crisis. 

Members of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation say theirs and patient's safety is being compromised on a daily basis. 

Leeside nurses say the numbers lying on trollies this year are the worst since records began.

The INMO says if members vote in favour of it - the ballot could lead to an all out strike in the lead up to Christmas.
