Students Warn Against Grant Cuts
Students are warning the government that proposed cuts to college fees and student grants will damage the economy. It comes as hundreds of students from UCC and CIT are marching to the offices of TD Jerry Buttimer this lunchtime . They're calling on the Minister for Education Ruairí Quinn, not to go ahead with plans to hike college fees by 250 euro this year - and every year until 2015 - when they will reach three thousand euro. Today's protest is the first in a series of regional marches taking place over the coming weeks. Speaking to Cork's REDFM, CIT Student Union President - Danny O'Donovan - says these cuts will not help the economy - click PLAY above to hear the clip
