Supervised Injection Facilities In Cork City Will Save Lives
That's according to David Lane who manages addiction services for the HSE in the Cork and Kerry region.
A newly published study identified Grand Parade and Oliver Plunkett Street as locations where injection centres could be set up in the city centre.
It follows interviews with 51 people who inject drugs which found that of 58 fatal overdoses, 11 happened in a public building, while a further 11 people died on the street.
Speaking to RedFM News David Lane from the HSE says injecting centres also serve to help those who wish to quit taking drugs
