Support dwindling for Cork water meter protests
Protesters campaigning against the installation of water meters in four Cork housing estates have fallen in numbers. Although protest signs remain in prominent positions, there are no campaigners or residents to be seen in Ashbrook heights, Fernwood Crescent, or Palmbury estates in Togher Some residents in Elmvale Park in Wilton however are patrolling the estate in anticipation of the arrival of Irish Water workers. It comes as the Government is attempting to speed up metering, but say that households not metered will be billed on the basis of the number of occupants. Elmvale Park residents Sharon Deane and Eoin Murphy have been out since 7am this morning and say people are afraid to join them even though they're opposed to paying for water. Speaking to RedFM News they say any concessions given by government today are simply not good enough given the level of opposition: Press PLAY button above to listen to the audio
