Support for Cork mother walking to the Dail continues to grow

Public support for a Mother walking from Cork to Dublin is growing this evening.

Vera Twomey made the decision to walk to the Dail from her Aghabullogue home, following a meeting with Minister Simon Harris last week, where an application to access medicinal cannabis for her daughter Ava was denied.

The Minister told the family the request was rejected because they needed a paediatric neurologist to sign off on the use of such products for her.

However, in the wake of Vera's protest march, the family say their neurologists have indicated they are willing to get the necessary training in order to be able to administer medicinal cannabis for Ava.

Up to 20 supporters have joined the march, and they are nearly at Kildorrery which will be their base for the evening.
