Swim Prohibition Notices For Sandycove And Garryvoe Lifted With Immediate Effect

However, a Do-Not-Swim Advisory remains in place for Fountainstown
Further samples taken yesterday showed improved water quality.
Following consultation with the HSE, the County Council decided to lift the Prohibition Notices at Sandycove and Garryvoe.
However, a Do-Not-Swim Advisory remains in place for Fountainstown.
Tests there yesterday show the water quality had improved from Poor to Sufficient, so the Prohibition notice was downgraded to an Advisory Notice.
The recent heavy rainfall is believed to be the like cause of the increased bacteria levels.
