Táinaiste heckled and blocked from entering city centre hotel
Gardaí were called to a city centre hotel last night to assist Joan Burton.
Gardaí were called to a city centre hotel last night after the Táinaiste was heckled by protesters and her driver was blocked from accessing the entrance.
Joan Burton was at the Clayton Silversprings hotel in advance of her appearance at the Munster Launch of the Labour Party 1916 Exhibition last night.
On arrival at the hotel she was greeted by anti-water charge protesters who called for her resignation and the abolition of water charges.
It's understood she waited in nearby Tivoli for Garda assistance before returning to the hotel where a number of squad cars and unmarked cars cleared the way for her entrance.
