Taoiseach on official visit to Cork city
The Taoiseach is on an official visit to the city today where he will carry out a number of engagements
At lunchtime he will pay a visit to Princes Street and surrounding streets to wish traders well as they reopen for outdoor dining.
Princes Street is one of 17 city centre streets recently permanently pedestrianised by the City Council, following a series of public consultations. In addition, the street recently saw the installation of a number of a colurful parasols to allow outdoor dining in all weather.
Cork City Council is supporting alfresco dining for over 1,000 people and helping business through weatherproofing grants, the installation of parklets and planters, and public realm improvements.
Later the Taoiseach is to attend the official openeing of Penrose Dock in the city's Victoria Quarter.
The 250,000 sq ft office development consists of two world class office blocks located in the heart of the city’s North Quays.
