Taoiseach's Remarks Around Christmas Leave For Hospital Workers Labelled "Misguided"

Leo Varadkar made the comments as concern grows over the potential for another trolley crisis this winter


55 people are currently being treated on trolleys at Cork University Hospital today - which is the second most overcrowded hospital in the country 

Speaking about the crisis facing hospitals this winter, the Taoiseach claims facilities effectively close down for seven of the twelve days of the holiday period.

President of the Irish Medical Organisation , Dr Peadar Gilligan, insists the focus must be on the capacity of the system:
