Taxi drivers in Cork feeling the pressure

It comes as figures show the number of taxi drivers nationwide quitting the profession.
Taxi drivers in Cork are struggling to make a living from the profession.
That's according to the Irish Taxi Drivers Federation which was responding to figures which show a drop in the number of drivers working in the industry.
900 taxi drivers around the country have quit in the first half of this year citing increased competition from online taxi service providers and the large numbers of taxis licenced to operate.
The Federation says their members are facing more pressure on their income levels in a sector which is regarded as having an oversupply of taxis.
Spokesman for the Federation in Cork Derry Coughlan told RedFM News that it is hard to make a living out of the profession for drivers in the city and county.
