Taxi fares set to rise

The increase related to the distance travelled.
Taxi fares are set to rise by around 4% nationally from today.
While the initial charge for a journey has been reduced from €4.10 to €3.60, the cost for the distance travelled is going up.
It means shorter fairs will cost slightly more, and medium fares up to 30km will have a more noticeable change - but longer fares will show a reduction in price.
Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show Brian Russell of Ace Taxis doesn't believe that the fare increase will cause problems for passengers as this is the first rate hike in seven years.
