Teachers In Cork Need Clarification For Students Whose Exam Papers Will Be Subject Of New Online Marking System

Teachers in Cork say some clarification is needed for Leaving cert students whose exam papers will be the subject of an online marking system.
The roll out of the system, which will see some of their exam papers scanned, just weeks before the State Exams is causing unnecessary stress for students.
Correctors and teachers have raised concerns that the extra work that students may complete in the margins of their exam papers may not be seen by examiners.
In a statement issued to RedFM News the State Examinations Commission says the risk of any extra work not being scanned is "exceptionally low" as the entire exam page will be scanned and available to the Examiner and also the original paper script will be retained.
However the new scanning process means students must use certain colour pens and pencils to ensure their papers are properly scanned.
Speaking to RedFM News Brendan O'Sullivan of the Irish Maths Teachers Association says he's not sure if correctors can request the original paper script
