Technical Examination Underway Following Death Of Woman In House Fire

Garda technical experts are examining the scene of a fatal house fire on the Model Farm Road which claimed the life of an elderly woman.
The 89 year old woman was living alone in the house at Court Cairn on the Model farm Road.
The alarm was raised when the woman's carer called to the house at around 9.20pm to assist the woman in going to bed and she discovered a fire in the kitchen area.
Three units of the City Fire Brigade attended the scene along with an ambulance but the woman who was recovered from the kitchen area was pronounced dead at the scene.
A post mortem is due to be carried out later today at Cork University Hospital while garda technical experts examine the house to try and establish the cause of the fire.
