Teen charged with robbery after vicious attack on Cork driver
A teenager has been remanded on bail after he was charged in connection with an incident where a taxi driver was attacked, robbed and had his taxi stolen in the city last month. John Ford, who has been driving a taxi for over 30 years in Cork, was beaten up and thrown out of his taxi in Ballyvolane by two passengers in the early hours of 19th September. 18-year-old Tony Delaney from Blackpool was charged with robbery from the 59-year-old at Hawthorn Mews, Dublin Hill in Cork on September 19th. He's due to appear at Cork District Court on November 4th next for the DPP's directions in the matter. Meanwhile gardaí in Cork yesterday released without charge a 16-year-old arrested for questioning about the incident.
