Temperatures Set To Dip As Low As Minus 7 Degrees In Parts Of The Country Tonight

Met Éireann says it'll be the coldest of the winter so far.

Meteorologist Liz Walsh says it'll be particularly chilly in the west and north:

"You know it's definitely a low average for sure but what we have at the moment is we have high pressure anchored to the northwest of Ireland and the UK, and that's bringing in very light winds. As we go through tonight, those winds are going to die away and they're going to become quite light especially in the west and northwest of the country, perfect conditions for very cold temperatures to occur."
