Tenders sought for redevelopment of former Irish Steel Plant

Tenders are being sought for the re-development of the former Irish Steel plant at Haulbowline.
€60 million in funding has been committed by the Government to turn part of the island into a public park, despite fears that the contaminated site may be unsuitable.
Cork County Council has invited tenders for the first phase of works on the island, to make it more 'environmentally and financially sustainable'.
The works would include the remediation of contaminated land and the protection and repair of the protected buildings on the island.
Interested companies are required to apply before May 3.
