The EU Has Started Legal Action Against The UK

It's over unilateral changes to the Northern Ireland protocol

The European Commission today sent a formal notice to the UK which marks the beginning of what it calls a formal infringement process.

In a statement the Commission says it is the second time in the space of six months the UK is set to break international law.

Vice President Maros Sefcovic (Pron: Sef-co-vich) says the protocol is the only way to protect the Good Friday Agreement and warned that unilateral decisions defeat its purpose and undermines trust between the EU and UK.
