The future of Eir Sport is under consideration
It's after revenue was cut in half in the second part of 2020
The Irish Independent reports that Eir has decided not to participate in the latest round of sports rights auctions.
Eir Sport staff were informed of the decision yesterday.
Business Journalist Gavin McLoughlin says Eir has given two reasons for this development.
"One is the disruption to sporting events earlier in the year. That meant there was a follow on disruption to the content that was available not helpful I would suspect in terms of their customer base. And number two, pub closures meant that they lost a lot of their subscription revenue from pubs so you've got these two factors coming together"
