The Government Is To Increase The Cost Of Plastic Bags
It will also bring in new charges on disposable cups, plates, and cutlery
The plan will see a three cents increase to plastic bags to 25 cents, while larger reusable bags could jump from 70 cents to 95 cents.
The Sunday Independent reports Environment Minister Richard Bruton will bring a memo to Cabinet on the proposed levies this week.
It's hoped the increases and added charges will instead encourage big supermarkets to offer customers non-plastic options.
