The Housing Minister Believes Current Rent Controls Are Capable Of Protecting Tenants 

The average national rent is now 21% higher than the peak in 2007, according to the Residential Tenancies Board. 

Macroom  has been added to the list of rent pressure zones after it was revealed that rents in the town jumped up 19% in a 12 month period. 

Renters in the city are now paying €1,177 a month on average, while tenants in the county are paying an average of €1,062.
