The Irish Farmers Association In Cork Hits Out At Proposed Boundary Extension

The IFA has described it as "grabbing money from the county"

The Irish Farmers Association in Cork has described the proposed boundary extension of Cork city as "grabbing money from the county"

The Association claims it will deprive many parts of the county of the investment needed to support economic activity and rural regeneration.

The three county chairmen of the IFA in Cork say the income generated through rates and local property tax would increase for the city area, at the expense of the County Council area, to the tune of over €50m.

Speaking to RedFM News Harold Kingston of the IFA says agriculture is vital to Cork and the county needs to be properly resourced and financed
