The Most Advanced Oncology Department In The Country Is being Opened At CUH This Afternoon

The new €40 million radiation/oncology department is equipped with advanced scanning and treatment facilities
The facilities include Surface Guided Radiation Treatment which speeds up and improves the accuracy of treatment.
The new €800,000 radiation treatment system, which is funded by Cork charity Aid Cancer Treatment, is also highly beneficial for patients whose treatment area is close to organs that are at risk from radiation exposure.
The new department will become operational in the coming weeks and will treat up to 2,000 patients in Munster every year.
Speaking to RedFM News, Radiotherapy Services manager at CUH Claire Roe says the new centre is a game changer:
