The Most Vulnerable Families In Cork Being Left At "The Bottom Of The Queue"
That's according to the leader of Fianna Fáil Micheál Martin who has called on the government to buy the Bessborough centre.
Over 100 staff at the centre in Blackrock could lose their jobs in the new year after the Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary announced they were withdrawing their involvement in the charity.
Bessborough provides a number of services including supervised access and therapeutic services as well as family support.
The Taoiseach has ruled out nationalising the former mother and baby home without compensating the religious order and says the government will enter into negotiations aimed at continuing the service.
Speaking in the Dáil, Cork Deputy Micheál Martin says vital services could disappear if the centre is not saved:
