The Plight Of The Leeside Apartment Tenants Is Back In The Spotlight Today

A case is being presented to the Residential Tenancies Board today by a resident of the complex.
The resident received a notice to quit from the new owners of the complex, Lugus Capital, citing major refurbishment work as the grounds for the eviction.
Over 25 other households who are also facing eviction on the same grounds have mounted stiff opposition and have hosted a number of protests to highlight the issue.
Housing Minister Eoghan Murphy late last year issued new guidelines to the RTB indicating grounds on which landlords could or could not use refurbishments as the basis for evictions.
Cork TD Mick Barry says today's hearing is being seen by many housing campaigners as a test case for the new guidelines.
Speaking to RedFM News resident at the apartment complex Aimee O'Riordan says they're still looking for open talks with the landlords.
