The Road Safety Authority Says Covid-19 Restrictions Do Not Eliminate The Risks Of Drink-Driving
The RSA, alongside Ireland's emergency services, have launched a new Christmas Road Safety campaign
That same afternoon, the news broke that 4 people were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in Mallow over a 24-hour period.
18 people have died on Irish roads between Christmas and New Year's since 2015, with drink-driving, speeding, and not wearing a seatbelt the most common denominators in fatal road accidents.
Here in Cork, 22 people have died in road traffic accidents so far in 2020.
Speaking to RedFM News, Brian Farrell of the RSA says the risks of drink-driving still exist despite the wet pubs being closed:
