There Are Calls For Emergency Measures To Help Independent Traders Affected By The Fire At Douglas Village Shopping Centre

It's been confirmed that demolition work will begin next week

Initial inspections suggest that Douglas Village Shopping Centre will be able to re-open next year, however that will depend on the extent of the demolition damage.

To date, 137 cars have been removed from the car park - with just over 60 more to be removed before work begins.

Local Councillor Deirdre Forde is appealing for property owners to consider lending space to traders affected by the fire - and she's hoping insurance companies can give local businesses a break:
