There Are Calls For Radical Re-Think Of The Leaving Cert

It’s after a new report described the State exams as too rigid and narrow with a stressful points system.

The Irish Times reports the OECD says the main focus of the exams is to act as a filter for higher education.

John Walsh was an advisor to former Education Minister Ruairi Quinn - he says changes are needed: 

"We do have huge levels of stress in Ireland, particularly on female students. It's a disproportionately stressful time for our young people. And so the question is how do we how do we change it? Do we have assessments throughout the two years?"
