Preparations for the homecoming had been underway in the West Cork town, since Paul and Gary won silver medal in the lightweight double sculls in Rio.

It was a first Olympic medal for Ireland for rowing and Paul went on to take Gold at the World Rowing Championships in Rotterdam 16 days later.

Huge crowds gathered from 4 O'clock yesterday afternoon to greet the brothers who toured the town in an open top bus later that evening with their Olympic medals.
