Thousands of new jobs could be created in the maritime sector

That's according to Minister for the Marine Simon Coveney.
The Minister for the Marine says 29,000 new jobs could be created in the sector by 2020 - many of these could be connected directly and indirectly to what's emerging as Ireland's maritime hub in Ringasiddy.
Harnessing potential from the so-called "Blue Economy" is being discussed at an international conference taking place in Ringaskiddy today as part of Sea Fest, Ireland's first maritime festival.
There's been huge expansion in the maritime sector and it's hoped it could lead to an extra €2.7 billion in economic growth within the next five years.
Minister for the Marine Cork's Simon Coveney says there are ambitious plans for marine development.
