Threshold appeals for quality, affordable rental sector to help prevent homelessness
Threshold are leading calls for stronger monitoring and enforcement of new rent cap laws which were introduced in December 2016.
It's part of a number of changes the housing charity are calling for in the rental sector in a bid to prevent homelessness.
RedFM recently learned chronic supply shortages in the Cork market are hindering the success of rent caps as many tenants are agreeing to rents above the 4% cap in order to secure accommodation.
Meanwhile there's been a 26% increase in calls to the Tenancy Protection Service in Cork
Speaking to RedFM News Niall Horgan of Threshold says renters in the city are struggling to secure and keep accommodation and are living in fear of becoming homeless:
