The Licenced Vintners Association says it has no choice but to go along with Government plans on indoor dining.

The Cabinet will consider six reopening options when it meets on Tuesday, after talks were held with hospitality representatives yesterday.

The proposals include a system that allows only vaccinated people and those recovered from Covid indoors, a system which has been operating successfully in many other EU countries.

Ireland has the fourth highest incidence rate of Covid-19 in the EU - with only Cyprus, Portugal and Spain faring worse. 

The Republic's 14-day rate is 121 per 100,000 people, with 534 new cases confirmed yesterday. 

627 new cases were reported in the North yesterday - the highest since late January.

The rate of Covid-19 in Buncrana local electoral area in Donegal is over seven times the national average. 

Its 14-day incidence rate was 881 per 100,000 people on Monday - the highest in the country. 

Dungarvan in Waterford is the next highest, at 771. 

Carndonagh, also in Donegal, is the third worst, at 625.

Up to 200 pharmacies will receive 100 doses of the Johnson and Johnson Covid-19 vaccine today. 

It's part of the delivery of 80,000 jabs to nearly 800 pharmacies, who began administering the one-shot vaccine to under-35s on Monday. 

The distribution started on Wednesday and will be finished next Tuesday.
