Investigations are continuing after an 18-year-old was left fighting for his life following the consumption of a designer drug at a house party on the southside of city.
The teenager was among six people who were rushed to Cork University Hospital after a passerby alerted the gardaí to the party which took place at house on St Patrick’s Terrace on Green St near Pouladuff Rd.
Toxicology tests are being carried out but it's understood those affected had consumed a drug believed to be the psycho-stimulant 2C-P.
This incident and subsequent warnings about the possibility of contaminated drugs in circulation around Cork has led to calls for a more open approach to drug use.
UCC based Mark Cullen from Students for Sensible Drug Policy Ireland has called for drug testing kits to be freely available in order to keep people safe..
