Traders And Homeowners Assessing Their Properties This Morning Following Flash Floods In Douglas
Emergency services responded to reports that Douglas River burst its' banks following heavy rain just before 10pm.
Crews from the City Fire Service and Council attended the incident, which closed some roads for a time.
Speaking to RedFM News, local councillor Mary Rose Desmond says it appears Douglas village and the surrounding area have escaped without any major damage:
Emergency services also dealt with flooding at Glanmire Shopping Centre, Rathcooney, Beaumont and Mayfield however there are no reports of any damage.
Meanwhile the Old Youghal Road and a section of the M8 outside Mitchelstown at Skeheenarinky have reopened following flash floods yesterday.
